Susan Higginson - Artist Profile

Susan Higginson

Welcome to my On-Line Gallery.

Welcome to 2024 – have had a slow start to painting this year – have ventured out into flowart – abstract. It is fun and something different.

Waipukurau in beautiful Central Hawke’s Bay is where I live and have my studio. We came as a family – my parents and 2 brothers to New Zealand in 1987. We spent 2-3 years in the Waikato but moved down to Hawkes Bay as it similar to where we came from in Western Australia – hot dry summers. New Zealand has given me much inspiration to paint with it vibrant colours, lights and atmosphere, its rivers, lakes and sea and mountains. I describe my style as ‘impression of ideal reality’ enough details so that it invites the viewer to look into the paintings.

I mainly used acrylics, I like how fast it dries and being able to layer colour onto colour. I used museum grade canvas’s which are beautiful to paint onto and they stay nice and straight when you hang then on the wall.

Photos quite often don’t do justice to the colours in the paintings, you are welcome to visit or take home on approval.

Oversea customers we have a very good company in Napier called Pack and Send that specialize in sending artwork, I am happy to get a quote for you. The cost includes packaging, insurance and delivery to your door…

Visitors are Welcome to my studio on the corner of State Highway 2 and Hatuma Road 1.3 kms south of Waipukurau.
